Quartz Lake Road off the Richardson Highway leads to Quartz Lake State Recreation area, several camping sites, and an up-close view of the trans-Alaska pipeline.

Quartz Lake covers 1,500 acres, more than 80 percent of which are less than 15 feet deep. Maximum depth is 40 feet. There is a boat rental concession at the lake, making this a good spot to get out on to the water. It is a popular fishing lake stocked rainbow trout, Arctic char, coho salmon, and chinook salmon.
