Eagle River Road, off the Glenn Highway, leads 12.6 miles east to Eagle River Nature Center, a great destination with indoor natural history displays, outdoor nature trails and year-round nature programs.
The Eagle River Nature Center is operated by the nonprofit Friends of Eagle River Nature Center to provide educational and recreational opportunities for Chugach State Park visitors. The Nature Center has brochures, natural history displays, a cozy sitting area and year-round nature programs; latrine and public phone outside building, restrooms by entrance to parking lot. Beautiful views of the Chugach Mountains, particularly from the viewing decks on the Rodak Nature Trail. Walk the nature trails at your own pace, or join one of the free guided nature walks offered 1:30–2:30 p.m. Tuesday–Sunday from June 1 to August 31. Pets must be on leash on the Rodak and Albert Loop trails.
